I can explain how stereotypes are formed and fostered through media.

PRE MOVIE
Today we will be watching CATFISH: The Movie.
Sit back, relax and WATCH. No computers- no cheating and ‘Googling’ what happens.

MUTE from 42:25 – 45:50… (This is when he is explaining the EXPLICIT texts he and Megan have been sending…) Remember these two are falling in love at this point.
-Trust me there is no need to picture how juicy it gets. You get the picture.

While the video is playing I want you to ask yourself…
Where is this going? What is going to happen? What would you do differently?
(If anyone has watched it before DO NOT RUIN IT FOR THE CLASS!)
*Note… please be mature as the ending is very shocking and it is important to remain non-judgemental! Anyone misbehaving, laughing or being hurtful will be asked to leave the class.

What is ‘Catfish’ about?
All I am going to tell you is:
Catfish is a 2010 American documentary film directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, (these are the directors/creators or Paranormal Activity) involving a young man, Nev, being filmed by his brother and friend, co-directors Ariel and Henry, as he builds a romantic relationship with a young woman on the social networking website Facebook.
*THIS IS A TRUE STORY.

How did Nev get roped in the lies?
What could Nev have done to ensure he wasn’t lied to?
What is a positive thing about ‘online’ relationships?
