We completed an activity together to ensure you know how to cite poetry. Please share this with Miss Mann.
Today you will begin working on your first GRADED assignment in English 20.

ASSIGNMENT:
I can properly cite poetry.
I can complete a poetry analysis.
I can identify the speaker, tone, mood, theme, subject and form of a poem.
I can read through a poem and find a visual that represents the main message of the piece of literature.

You will be completing a poetry analysis on your own.

Media Studies/Photography 20: TARGETS FOR TODAY’S LESSON
Please make sure you have begun your Media Studies Media Profile and have added to it.
Let’s open it up right now and add to it what you have so far this morning.
Today we will chat about Catfish for a few minutes.

The targets covered by watching and discussing Catfish are:
I can understand how the media influences my likes/dislikes.
I can understand how the media impacts what I think about certain topics.
I can understand how the media can ‘change the way people think’.
I can define popular culture.
I understand how the media impacts my life.
I can find positive and negative examples of oral media.I can find positive and negative examples of visual media.
I can find positive and negative examples of print media.I can explain how the ‘media’ portrays teenagers/seniors/babies and explain why stereotypes exist.
I can explain how stereotypes are formed and fostered through media.

Questions to consider after we watched Catfish:
Did Nev do anything wrong?
How did Nev get roped in?
What is a positive thing about ‘online’ relationships?
What is a negative thing about ‘online’ relationships?
What is a stereotype about ‘online’ relationships?
Do you have people on your Facebook that could be questionable?

Social Studies 20:
Don’t forget the research tool in Google! (Awesome right.)

We will watch:
-Last years (2014) Week in Rap.
Macleans Magazine Article (Prepare yourself for this one…)

Then you will have the rest of the day to work on your poetry analysis (English)/current event (Social)
(There is one added component today.)

Remember you need to have a complete paragraph for this summary of your event.
Do how have this separated by headlines; who, what, where, why, when. *Make sure it is a paragraph.
You need to have an introduction, body and a conclusion to this.

Then please list EVERY simplified human right that is broken. Then; after each human right mention HOW and WHY it is broken.

Lastly; What do you think should be done to fix this issue? Can it be solved? What organizations could get involved to fix it? Does it need fixing? REMEMBER: Try to see the event from both sides… be mindful, educated and informed.
