This is such an honour and I hope that you guys learn more than you thought you would!
Lets recap English 20:
We have analyzed two poems together:
Warren Pryor and My Papa’s Waltz (You may want to start a running list of everything we read so you know what to go over for the final!-HINT)
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HANDED IN YOUR POETRY ANALYSIS-DUE (Waiting on 1)
STOP: Do not forget about the great songs we learned from and analyzed!
-Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin
-Ironic by Alanis Morisette (Don’t forget her wicked awesome music video!)
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FOUND YOUR ‘THEME’ SONG and
WRITTEN A PARAGRAPH ABOUT IT AND POSTED IT ON YOUR BLOG- DUE MONDAY
-Your paragraph should include:
Why you chose the song?
What does it remind you of?
What do you like about it?
What do you dislike about it?
Explain what theme of your life it fits into.
Also, Can you believe we fit in presentations and the start of a novel.
Time is already flying by.
BE SURE YOU ARE DONE ALL THREE QUESTIONS FROM THE PROLOGUE in your student booklets.
Time to slip over Social Studies 20
Unit 1: Human Rights
We have talked at length and been crushing through the learning targets within your book.
What is the Declaration of Human Rights? (We’ve done it!)
What is the UN? Explain. (We’ve done it!)
What is NATO? Explain. (We’ve done it!)
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (What a man! -Be sure you know all there is to know about his efforts.)
We have been asking and discussing SUCH GREAT QUESTIONS.
Be sure to start researching and forming opinions on all the HOT topics we have been discussing.
-Is cloning okay?
-Which is more valid; The Nature vs. Nurture debate?
-Where are human rights still being broken?
We have also been catching up on our CURRENT EVENTS.
Thank you to Flocabulary and The Week in Rap we are learning each week what has been going on in the world.
MAKE SURE YOUR YELLOW ‘POST IT NOTE’ IS COMPLETE AND ON THE MAP BY MONDAY!
Also, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TAKEN THE HUMAN RIGHTS THAT WAS ASSIGNED TO YOU AND TOLD ME ABOUT WHEN IN HISTORY THAT RIGHT HAS BEEN BROKEN. -OVER DUE

LASTLY, Do you have a dream? Do you have many dreams? -I know you do!
WELL- PROVE IT. YOUR VIDEO- I Have a Dream speech IS DUE MONDAY.
WOAH- We can’t forget about Media Studies/Photography 20
We have gotten into some really HOT TOPICS on this one.
What is Mass Media? Who does it impact?
BE SURE TO KNOW: the FORMS of media as well as the ROLES of media.
(Don’t stress. As long as you know the basics- you will be fine.)
-We have also shown a few Final Projects from last year to get you thinking about something you may want to do when you have learned all we will be studying over the course of the year.
(I have such excited and high expectations.)
For your weekend pondering:
(Watch the following video and then comment on this post if you would like. Not an assignment.)
Show Me the Money
-What have we been discussing about mass media and its focus on money?
Initially this might make you laugh. It makes me laugh… But a theme this week seemed to surround the questions I have prompted you with below.
(Remember- We are a very lucky group of people with so many great things going on in our lives! Money- Isn’t everything. Why do we seem so reliant upon it? Why does it bring us happiness? What makes you truly happy? What brings you joy? How do you get over the things in life that hold you back or bother you? Where have you come from? How does your personal history influence your future? What do you want to do with your life? Who do you want to help? What major goals do you have? How will you ensure you get through life’s tough stuff?- You rock. I look forward to next week.)
Plans for Monday are:
Read through Chapter 1 and 2 in; I am Hutterite. (Less than 3 weeks until we go and actually WITNESS this community living.) CHAPTER QUESTIONS for these two chapters will be DUE at the end of class. (You will have lots of time. Do not do ahead of time or do to much reading on this one alone- you will get bored in class. If you are itching to read… Start your independent novel study.
Social Studies 20:
Slavery. (Yup- big topic today. What is slavery? Who has been enslaved in history? Who is enslaved now? -What does this say about the Declaration of Human Rights, United Nations and NATO?)
Media Studies/Photography 20:
Field Trip Prep
What is it like to be a journalist/photographer/reporter?
