What you are responsible to know and be able to do for upcoming assignment.

Upcoming Assignment: (This is your final assignment in To Kill a Mockingbird.)
*Be sure to continue keeping up with your Chapter questions.
Remember your To Kill a Mockingbird exam is on Monday.

While watching the Scottsboro trial documentary be sure to take notes.
You will comparing and contrasting the details of both communities and the individuals involved.
How are they similar? How are they different?
You will have to come up with a CLEAR concise thesis statement for your essay.
This thesis statement MUST be bolded within your essay. The rest of your essay should speak to that thesis statement.
THESIS and ESSAY SUPPORT (From previous lessons.)
Work diligently to build skills and show improvement from last essay. If you haven’t completed the first one. You better do double time! (This is to be completed with proper structure and will be your final essay to be written during class time.)

1947- Jackie Robinson breaks Major League Baseball’s color barrier when he is signed to the Brooklyn Dodgers by Branch Rickey.


1968- Martin Luther King Jr. is assassinated.
1972- The infamous Tuskegee Syphilis experiment ends. Begun in 1932, the U.S. Public Health Service’s 40-year experiment on 399 black men in the late stages of syphilis has been described as an experiment that “used human beings as laboratory animals in a long and inefficient study of how long it takes syphilis to kill someone.”
2008- Sen. Barack Obama becomes President.

Scottsboro: (Wikipedia)
The Scottsboro Boys were nine black teenage boys accused of rape in Alabama in 1931. The landmark set of legal cases from this incident dealt with racism and the right to a fair trial. The case includes a frameupall-white jury, rushed trials, an attempted lynchingangry mob, and miscarriage of justice.

Students: you will have some time to organize your notes
Students: you will also want to gather some notes from your To Kill a Mockingbird novel for the comparisons.
We are just diving into the trial within TKAM. You will have to start documenting and looking for things that are alike.
Yes you will have to source material both from the novel and from information you can find on the Scottsboro trial.

SUB: Please have all students close their laptops. Pull up each of the following links one at a time on the SMART board and read allowed with students. Or (Simply assign as a reading if you wish.)

Students remember that your Ecology mini in class assignment is on Thursday AM.

STUDENTS: ten lockers were left open yesterday at the end of the day.
This cannot happen. Zach or Troy (until I return) can you please double triple check this does not happen again today.)

Apologize to Miss O and Mr Streuby if you see them today for leaving those unlocked and thank them for dealing with that.

Be sure to watch a few of the tutorials that Miss Osatchuk found. They are awesome.
You will have today to work on your showcase!
Chad is super pysched to come and view your showcases as is Miss Mushtaler.
Remember each photo will be graded as well as your entire showcase.
Remember that your showcase MUST be on one organized WordPress page that is parented by your Photography page.
Title your showcase.
Once you have shown me your WordPress Showcase page you can begin working with the cameras and photoshop.

HOMEWORK:
Social Studies Presentations will be when I return, hopefully tomorrow.
Have read up to and be read to go with Chapter 25 tomorrow in To Kill a Mockingbird.
(Be sure when reading on in to Kill a Mockingbird that you are comparing and contrasting for your upcoming essay.)
